Winyo teams up with Grammy Award-winning producer Fancy Fingers in New Album Jawaya Jathum

Two of Kenya’s most innovative musical forces—singer-songwriter Winyo and Grammy Award-winning guitarist and producer Fancy Fingers—have joined creative forces for a genre-defying new album titled Jawaya Jathum.

Released in March, the 13-track record is a lyrical and sonic homage to the duo’s Luo heritage. From delicate acoustic moments to bold experimental flourishes, Jawaya Jathum is as emotionally rich as it is musically adventurous. Every track was co-written by Winyo and Fancy Fingers (aka Polycarp Otieno), whose partnership brings together powerful storytelling and polished production.

The album has already been hailed in the Kenyan press as a “masterpiece” that “redefines the sound of cultural fusion.” It’s a showcase of Winyo’s distinctive voice and poetic sensibilities, elevated by Fancy Fingers’ contemporary sonic palette.
